Data Migration from COMET
NZ Football used the COMET registration system from 2018 - 2025 inclusive. The following data has now been migrated automatically for your club from COMET to Sporty:
During migration planning, it was identified that COMET's data structure for parent/guardian information did not align with Sporty's more detailed caregiver fields, which require separate entries for first name, last name, email, and phone number.
After consultation with NZF, the decision was made to exclude historical parent/guardian details from the migration and instead capture this information fresh during new registrations in Sporty. This approach ensures data quality and completeness, as the information will be entered directly into Sporty's structured fields during the registration process.
NZF retains complete historical records in their COMET archives for reference if needed.
Q: Since the data migration of historic COMET data, additional records have appeared.
A. In COMET, coaches and referees didn't require seasonal registration like players did. Instead, they had a "Start on" date when first registered. Unless a club specifically terminated a coach in COMET (which would create an "End on" date), the system treated them as remaining active with the club indefinitely.
When we migrated to Sporty, which requires annual registrations for all roles, we created registrations for each season these coaches were considered "active" in COMET. This is why you're seeing coach registrations for people like Aaron Klee and Amy Price spanning multiple seasons, even though they may not have been actively coaching with your club.
What you can do:
If these coaches should have been terminated in COMET but weren't, and you want your database to accurately reflect each coach's actual tenure with your club, you can delete the registrations for the incorrect seasons. This will ensure you're only inviting back people who were genuinely active with Upper Hutt City FC last season. Or alternatively you could edit their profile in SuperCRM and tick on ‘Do not email’.
